In Romans time Coin was named,
Castro Dacuan from which it is believed that the Arabs took
the name Cohine.
During the centuries of Muslim occupation, the
urban centre becomes the most important one in the area, the
town was absolutely destroyed after it was conquered by Christian
troops.
Then came its resurgence due to the repopulation
ordered by the Castillian Monarchs, but in the year 1810 a terrible
storm causes numerous damages to its town centre.
After during the reign of King alfonso XIII,
it was given the title of City.
