The village of Coín
is located in the north side of Mijas and Alhaurín el
Grande just in the valley of the Pereilas river and is a great
place thanks to the abundance of spring water in the area wich
has earned the town the nickname of town of the fountains.
The water supply for the town and neighbouring
districts comes into a recreational area with an artificial
lake. The surrounding scenery is very attractive, specially
the valley around the source of the Alaminos river.
Coín town is a busy sprawling one dominated
by the main church and square.
Recently has transformed its central area to
one-way only improving traffic congestion.
The access roads wich take you there are often
very congested, but work has finished on the A-366 access road
to the town, removing an almost permanent bottleneck.
Coin village has an important agricultural sector,
particularly citrus fruit and the construction is also a vital
source of income and employment.
Coin has a Population of about 25.000 inhabitants
and you can find a pleacefull environment made up of great masses
of cork and pine trees which lean over the valle del Guadalhorce.
