Jubrique is situated on the
eastern slope of “El Bajo Genal”, inside of “La
Serranía de Ronda”.
It has a population of about 1.000 inhabitants, and maintains
the typical appearance of the mountainous, country towns, with
steep, narrow roads and whitewashed, low- lying houses.
It is an ideal place to practice all sports of open- air activities
in contact with nature.
Here we can find some religious buildings of
great popular and historical interest: the Church of San Francisco
de Asís, the Shrine of El Castañuelo and the Shrine
of La Santa Cruz del Chorrillo.
The local holidays and festivities are dedicated
to San Francisco de Asís, celebrated during October.
Another date of interest is the one dedicated to the emigrant,
celebrated in mid- August.
In its gastronomy, the most relevant dishes
are the fennel stew, “el gazpacho caliente”, the
cod pancakes and the pork cold cuts and the rest of the pork
derivates.
