Nerja historic monuments starts from “El
Balcón de Europa”, an old castle from the Ninth
Century and nowadays, view- point over the sea.
Here you can visit the “Boquete de Calahonda”
and “El Paseo de Carabineros”, a beautiful pathway
set deep in a natural setting of rocks that runs along the coast
until the beach of Burriana.
Don’t miss the Shrine of “Ntra. Sra. De las Angustias”,
with paintings of Alonso Cano, and the Church of El Salvador,
from the Seventeenth Century in a Mudejar- baroque styling.
Besides there is the old quarter of the city wich offers the
possibility of going shopping to the traditional shops which
offer that craftsmanship and the typical products of the place.
The town of nerja has several famous beaches,
like Burriana beach and is home to the world-famous Nerja caves.
